Inclusive Education


Education Queensland’s Inclusive Education Policy states:

Inclusive education means that every day in every classroom, every state school student is learning and achieving in a safe, supportive, inclusive and disciplined learning environment.

Inclusive education provides all students with access to high-quality schooling that is free from discrimination based on gender, language, sexual orientation, pregnancy, culture, ethnicity, religion, health or disability or socio-economic background or geographic location. 

Inclusive Education at BPSHS

At BPSHS, Inclusion describes all learners, including those with a disability, being placed in regular classes in the company of their peers. Inclusion is about the child’s right to participate and the school’s duty to accept the child. A high value is placed upon full participation by students with disabilities and upon respect for their social, civil, and educational rights.

Teachers plan for every student to participate and learn, with the support of suitable adjustments and curriculum provisions, creating a culture of successful learners. Inclusion requires the rethinking of curriculum delivery and demands a strong understanding of the need to do things differently in order to meet individual needs. 


Inclusion is about maximising the outcomes of all students through identification and reduction of barriers to learning. It is about setting high expectations, valuing and celebrating diversity; and employing high quality, evidence-based teaching practices focused on success for every student.
